David H. Melvin, PE, LEED AP
President
After completing undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, David and his wife Patty, returned to Northwest Florida and in 1989 established David H. Melvin, Inc., Consulting Engineers. With headquarters located in their hometown of Marianna and an office in Tallahassee, Melvin Engineering is recognized throughout Northwest Florida as a firm that is known for providing quality services with a commitment to the clients it serves.
In addition to serving on many civic boards and advisory committees, David's passion during the past 11 years has been to bring forward the need for character strengthening and building not only in his personal life but in the culture of Melvin Engineering. In his message to new employees, David states, "In 1999 we decided to be a company known not only for the quality of work we provide, but for being a "Company of Character." He translated his enthusiasm for character and the role it plays in determining success into the formation of the Character Council of Florida, a non-profit organization also headquartered in Marianna.
David's professional success has been recognized by the Florida State University School of Business as the 2006 Entrepreneurial of Exellence Award winner, the first-ever recipient of the Jackson County Excellence in Leadership Award in 2009, and, most recently, a nominee for the 2011 Economic Development Volunteer of the Year Award sponsored by the Florida Economic Development Council. Each year staff members select a quality which best represents the character David consistently demonstrates. Previous recognitions include the qualities of Benevolence, Justice, and Wisdom.
David and Patty are the proud parents of eight children.
