Florida State University National High Magnetic Field Laboratory – MK Wing Expansion
As consultants to Hicks Nation Architects, the DHM team provided structural design and detailing for a new superconducting magnet lab at the FSU National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. Meticulous structural design and detailing and engineering support using Revit software, were provided by the Tallahassee Structural Division of DHM.
Design included foundation and magnet pits using GFRP reinforcing and steel-framed structure with aluminum-framed non-magnetic mezzanine. Walls had copper RF shielding for reduction of radio signals.
Construction Cost: $1.2 Million
